Without a doubt, the Saturday evening is one of the most anticipated moments of the Heritage Days in Sarlat: Heritage under the stars. On 19 September 2026, more than 2,000 candles will illuminate the medieval streets, creating a soft, warm and almost otherworldly atmosphere. Follow the glow of the flames and let the ‘passe‑rues’ guide you along a route designed to reveal the beauty of the town.

The festivities will begin on Place de la Liberté: after the Mayor’s speech, the town will come alive with discoveries, encounters and the magic of the night. A truly unique evening, where Sarlat’s heritage reveals itself under a star‑studded sky and in an atmosphere that only the locals know how to describe — unforgettable.
